Totally renovated in 1995, The Rola House features a living room with wood-burning stove, three bedrooms sleeping 5, an adjoining kitchen with cooking utensils, dishes, flatware, glasses, and table linens. Cooking with either natural gas stove, oven, or microwave. Bathroom includes shower, tub, all modern facilities and plentiful towels and face cloths. Washer and Dryer for clothes in basement. Central air conditioning and heat. Bicycles are included for local touring.

The Alentejo region of Portugal is often referred to as Portugal's 'bread basket'. Nestled in the center of Alto Alentejo, the village of Cabecao began in the 13th century during the reign of King Alfonso II. It was given official village status in 1578 by King D. Sebastiao. Today, this beautiful village of about 1,200 inhabitants is considered an example of one of the best environmentally and culturally-preserved villages in Portugal.

Cabecao is surrounded by cork trees, rolling plains, pine forests, vineyards, tomato and vegetable farms. It is well known for its fishing competitions and festivals, excellent restaurants and small wineries. Local skilled wine makers still employ their craft using the knowledge handed down to them by generations before them.

The weekends, holidays and summertime are times when others visit Cabecao as a weekend or vacation retreat to enjoy the simpler life. Sausages, wine, cheese and ceramics are just some of the souvenirs available locally. Although guests can cook in the house kitchen or grill on the terrace, there are excellent restaurants in the village serving many authentic Portuguese specialties.
